And though Cadillac won’t start building these new guys until December 2011, the new model should be pretty impressive. It will be the largest four-door sedan created by Cadillac, with many already referring to it as a “stretched ultra-luxury vehicle”. I think XTS was a better choice for the name, though.

Though not too much has been revealed about this mystery Cadillac, the ranks which it will join have already been announced. The upcoming lineup for Cadillac is looking pretty solid, and the XTS may just be the cherry on top.

Already expected soon at area Cadillac Chicago dealers are the CTS Wagon and SRX Crossover. The CTS Coupe should be arriving sometime next summer, and if the XTS sedan can arrive by 2012, Cadillac will have its perfect mix of ultimate luxury, driving amusement and practical function.

The new XTS model is also predicted to compete directly with brands like Merdeces-Benz (S-Class), Lexus (LS), BMW (7 series) and Audi (A8). It is also predicted, along with the rest of the future Cadillac lineup, to help boost Cadillac’s position within the market, a key for GM’s future success. By replacing the slow-selling DTS, the new XTS will surely help Cadillac sell more and create a stronger customer base.

So whether you  have been waiting years for this news or if this is the first you have heard of the Cadillac XTS, I am sure it comes as a welcome announcement. There will obviously be more information on the new XTS as the release gets closer, and any Cadillac dealer in Chicago will have more information as time goes on as well. But for now, just relax and know that Cadillac has got it under control moving forward.

My parents had a wagon when I was a little kid. It was ugly, the vinyl seats melted to my legs in the summer, and we all had to wait for Dad to back it out of the driveway before getting inside to make sure it didn’t scrape the street on the way out. It was so inconvenient it took me two years before I fully believed it wasn’t a joke and I wasn’t on Candid Camera. All I can think about when I look at the 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon is how much better it must be to be a kid these days. But before I diverge into my childhood stories, I should start writing about the new CTS Wagon.

With the Cadillac CTS continuing to be so amazingly successful, it makes sense Cadillac would build upon that design. The 2010 CTS Wagon was announced about nine months ago, and will hit dealerships this spring. Its appearances at auto shows have left a lot of people wanting to test drive one, including me of course. Here’s a short video that shows some nice angles of the car in action.

The back is my favorite part so I’ve made sure to include a picture of it in this post. The long, vertical tail lights. The v-shape tailgate. Isn’t it menacingly alluring? I think Cadillac succeeded in making a car of a different style and shape that continued the CTS design. The rear was the most varying aspect, and they did a really nice job designing it.

See? I told you the back end was alluring.

All-wheel drive will be available, as will optional 19-inch wheels and a larger, more panoramic sunroof, add-ons that will make the car especially fun to drive.

The wagon will sport a direct-injection 3.6-liter V-6 that puts out 304 horsepower. The best thing about the engine is that it will achieve the same 26 mpg on the highway as the sedan does.

So anyone who loves the CTS style but has held off for something with more space will have to wait no longer. This is the best wagon yet for luxury and looks.
