As we all know, Cadillac has a Hybrid Escalade. It gets better gas mileage than any Escalade before and still comes with all of the amenities that a luxury lover has come to expect. However, as any tree-hugging, environmental loving, hybrid driving enthusiast can tell you, this is not as green as it can get. In order to up their eco-credibility Cadillac is coming out with a hybrid version of the Cadillac SRX.
Though it is not a sure thing yet, rumors should be confirmed by this coming January regarding this new hybrid. Either way, the new SRX crossover will be arriving in showrooms this August. If the hybrid model does come out, it will be sometime in 2011. It will boast impressive direct-injected V6 engines and optional AWD.
The Two-Mode hybrid system used in the Chicago Cadillac Escalade is planned to be used in the new SRX. The hybrid feature was originally expected to be put into the Saturn VUE but was ultimately decided to be given to the SRX. Chicago Cadillac dealers are expecting this new hybrid to achieve up to 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which are very respectable numbers for a vehicle of its size and class.
And since Cadillac is known for their luxury and class it will also continue to have all of that good stuff as well. So just keep your fingers crossed (I will too, don’t worry) and hopefully we will see the SRX as a hybrid sooner rather than later in our Chicago Cadillac showrooms. Until then, the hybrid Cadillac Escalade is a great start to Cadillacs greener image.
