People might still be gun-shy to spend a lot of money these days, but lucky for Cadillac, July sales are an indication that auto buyers are willing to put their hard earned money toward a quality product. In Chicago, Cadillac models sold in July 2010 doubled the amount that went off lots in July 2009. This is due to the high performing models that GM works hard to produce, like the Chicago CTS.

According to reports, new models are doing very well. The revamped SRX crossover did awesome in July, selling nines times the amount of last July. The SRX comes in a base, Luxury, and Premium model, each offering luxury features, depending on your needs. Right now, all three trims come with a 3.0 liter V6 engine and a tough to beat warranty program. Basic warranty is good for 48 mos/50,000 miles, powertrain for 60 months/100,000 miles, and much more!

Other features of an SRX include pedal and seat placement memory, telescoping steering wheel, and an emergency communication system. These will make traveling in your SRX more convenient. Moreover, this crossover comes standard with important safety features such as brake assist, electronic stability, traction control, and high quality ABS brakes.

If you are not interested in a crossover, many other models may pique your interest.  Consider the Chicago CTS.  You can make the choice between the CTS AWD, coupe, and sedan.  Choose the coupe if you want something a bit sportier, the sedan if your vehicle of choice is a more traditional model.  All have the attractive, luxurious styling that new Cadillac models are featuring.

The CTS AWD Premium collection is the ultimate in sedan driving.  It features many great features such as a six-speed automatic transmission and 18 inch premium tire package.  You’ll also get a phone interface featuring Bluetooth, navigation system with voice prompt and screen, and heated/ventilated driver and front passenger seating.  Keep in mind those cold, Chicago winters will unfortunately be here before we know it.  Heated seats make it a bit more tolerable.

Definitely with its new design, I would pick the SRX above the Lexus RX and other competitor models. There is still nothing that really makes a driver feel as special as owning a Cadillac. And with some of the design nods to Cadillac’s roots in the 50s, this is a model sure to entice both the classic and contemporary car buyer. While I haven’t yet been to a Cadillac Chicago dealer to check out the new version, I intend for my Chicago SRX text drive to be much more fun than my past SRX experiences. I might even get a few looks from the ladies in the 2010 model.

According to Business Week however, the Converj Concept was shot down last spring because of internal differences between the reigning higher-ups at GM.   Since then the personnel has changed and the idea is gaining traction again.  The idea of incorporating this revolutionary Voltec technology into the Cadillac “no compromises” design.  The Converj will offer a sporty look similar to that of a Lamborghini while still retaining the signature design features of a Cadillac.  An all-glass roof incorporates solar panels that pump some extra juice to the vehicle’s accessories.  The vehicle also incorporates sharper vertical headlamp and taillamp components for a noticeably edgier design.

The interior of the vehicle is miles away from the Chicago CTS interior, but still somehow retains the Cadillac look and feel.  The blue-lit console graphics give the interior a sleek, updated look that would make any car enthusiast druel.   Add in a state-of-the-art touch-screen navigation, climate, center-stack and audio control center and this care will become your second home.  But don’t expect the new Converj anytime soon.  If (and it’s still an if) the car is approved for production, it won’t make its way to your Chicago Cadillac Dealer until at least 2014.  So for now you’ll just have to keep drooling at the pictures and the many promises of the Converj.  But a little hype isn’t such a bad thing.  Right?

You may remember the Converj concept Cadillac wowed everyone with earlier this year in Detroit. The XTS will incorporates some of the design elements of the Converj concept and will take the place of the DTS and STS sedans. A huge upgrade in style if you ask me.

The XTS will no doubt be a very powerful addition to the Cadillac family. And just as exciting is the ATS that will be joining the Cadillac clan around the same time. Like the XTS, the ATS incorporates some of those very aggressive Converj design cues with the overall design language of the CTS to make for a very congruent style.

I really can’t wait to see these production models hit the showrooms at Chicago Cadillac dealers. There isn’t any official word on pricing yet, but with the ATS set to compete with the BMW 3 series and like autos, I’ll guess that you can expect a starting price slightly lower than its direct competitors when it rolls onto lots. After my recent Cadillac CTS Chicago test drive, it seems clear to me that the ATS will fit nicely in luxury and price range just below the CTS, and the XTS will come in as a larger, decked-out sedan priced above the Cadillac flagship vehicle.

The best we know now is that the ATS and XTS will be coming to Chicago Cadillac dealers “soon” in GM’s words. When it does get to showrooms, you can bet I’ll be one of the first there to play with, um … test drive and review it. You can read a bit more about my Cadillac CTS Chicago test drive here.
