Cadillac models are luxurious and stylish, there is no disputing this.  That’s why they’ve been popular for so many years.  What’s been changing for Cadillac is the focus on creating sportier options that cater to many different generations.  We often associate a “Caddy” with the old school models your grandfather proudly cruised around in.  Several Cadillac models are in the works and are proving to be great choices if you are shopping around for a new auto!

Take, for example, the 2011 Chicago CTS coupe.  It is currently on the lot at your local dealer and it’s hot!  This is the first coupe to be sold since the Deville said bye-bye back in 1993.   That’s 17 years ago and it’s about time we see something new!  The 2011 CTS coupe will start out with a 3.6 L V6 engine that delivers 304 horsepower.  Down the road, the car maker will install the coupe with same engine currently found in the CTS-V.  That being a supercharged 6.2 liter V8.  Now that’s some serious power.  I think, however, that the current option will be enough to satisfy the driver who craves speed and sport behind the wheel…at least in the meantime!!

Like most car companies out there, Cadillac has a long list of Options that you can purchase to make driving the Chicago CTS coupe that much more exciting.  If you take just the standard features, you’ll find that there’s a lot already in there.  The seats are made with quality leather as well as a leather steering wheel and shift knob.  To accent this, the door panel, wood dashboard insert, and console insert are all made of genuine wood.  Cadillac works hard to make the cabin of their cars very luxurious.

In addition, the CTS-V sport wagon will debut at your Chicago Cadillac dealer later this year.  This is a great option if you want to transport your family and/or belongings in style!  It’s been refreshed for the 2011 car year.  The roof is longer and it will come with the same engine that is found in the CTS-V sedan: a 556 HP that is sure to leave the kiddos wide-eyed in the backseat!  It was unveiled at the 2010 New York Auto Show and was a big hit.

The newest electric cars will be coming to your Chicago CTS dealerships in the upcoming years.  Car companies all over the world have been working on making these models efficient, environmentally friendly, and most of all appealing to all different driver demographics.  But, will this new option leave people jumping on the bandwagon, or lagging slowly behind, waiting to see how everything plays out?

There is no easy answer and there is a lot to factor into it all.  Deloitte Consulting conducted a market research study to get some feeling about consumers’ attitudes toward electric and hybrid cars.  Their results suggest that there will be modest interest in these types of vehicles.  Some of the hurdles that will keep them from being sold as quickly are cost, range of travel on a charge, and infrastructure, such as available charging stations at convenient locations like work and school.

There are some discrepant findings about the amount of  all electric cars that will be on the roads by 2020.  Credit Suisse says it will be around 335K and Citi predicts it’ll be around 1 million.  In addition, Deloitte reported that the Traffic and Safety Administrations pegs the number at 750K.  Certainly a wide range of amounts.  My personal feeling is that it will be closer to the 335K mark.

Now to take a look at what Cadillac is doing in the whole electric car, hybrid arena.  I am a big fan of the Chicago XLR, so Cadillac models are definitely on my radar.  For example, an Escalade hybrid has been released.  You still get all the interior and exterior luxury features that you expect to find, but the hybrid gives you some other specs too!  It works on a combination of a V8 gasoline engine and two 60-kilowatt motors.

It’s no doubt in the upcoming years that Cadillac will be working to perfect hybrid and electric models that are either completely new, or based off current models, like the Chicago CTS.   There is certainly an established following of those already set on buying electric cars once they’re out, according to Deloitte.  I myself will be patiently waiting for a Chicago XLR hybrid or all-electric model- only time will tell which is chosen!

If you’re a Chicago CTS driver, then you’ll be thrilled to find out that a new wagon is one its way.  The CTS-V Sport Wagon is set to go into production later this year, thus becoming a 2011 model at your Chicago Cadillac dealer, Patrick Cadillac!  Let’s find out what it will offer a lucky owner.

Many of the amenities found on the current CTS-V Sedan will make its way into the Sport Wagon.  The engine, which is a 556-hp, 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, will make for one fast wagon.  Imagine the power behind that, certainly able to get your kids to practice on time, even when running a few minutes late!

The Chicago CTS Sport Wagon will also come in the option of a manual or automatic transmission.  I prefer the manual, for what it’s worth.  The wagon will also have Brembo brakes, state of the art shocks, and 19-inch wheels made with high quality Michelin rubber.  This is definitely a wagon I wouldn’t mind having parked in my driveway!

Inside the wagon, you are likely to find many features found in the 2010 Chicago CTS Sedan.  If you like a luxurious interior, you are in luck.  The Sport Wagon will get leather and suede seats that are very comfy.  Leather accents find their way into the dashboard, door, and steering wheel.  If you want to upgrade, you’ll be able to enjoy a sunroof.  Nothing better than some sun and fresh air on a warm spring day!

Some other features that will make this a great ride is the Bose stereo system with ample speakers and XM Satellite Radio: a fun feature to help tune into your favorite music, sports and talk stations!  The Sport Wagon, soon to arrive at your Chicago Cadillac dealer, will also get Dual Zone climate control, helping make the drive comfortable for everyone!

The Sport Wagon won’t be around forever, as Cadillac is terming it a “limited availability vehicle”.  Let’s hope it sticks around long enough for you to take a test drive and hopefully a make purchase! Cadillac is certainly doing something right with the Chicago CTS cars.   The CTS and CTS-V, for the third year in a row, have been named to Car and Driver’s 10 Best List.  Considering all the different makes and models you find on the roads today, this is a great accomplishment.

What is it about the Chicago CTS that makes it such a nice auto to own?  There are many interior and exterior components that make the CTS one of the best in it’s class.   It has a roomy back seat.  This is good because your guests will be comfy, but maybe a disadvantage if your pals want you to be the one to drive everywhere!!  The materials used to make the interior are very high quality.  You’ll also find many modern conveniences such as a navigation system, Bluetooth capability, and LED lighting.

The Chicago CTS cars come with powerful V6 engines that allow the driver to commute conservatively or drive with a little more gusto on the open roads.  The base v6 engine give 263 HP and 253 pound-feet of torque.  The next one up, offers 304 HP and 273 pound-feet of torque.  Very good for a mid size luxury sedan.  Furthermore, the Chicago CTS has really good handling, thanks to a four-wheel independent suspension.

Overall, this Cadillac model is a very reliable car, based on it’s performance over the past few years.  These Chicago CTS cars come with a 4 year, 50,000 mile basic warranty.  Even better is the powertrain warranty that lasts for 5 years, or 100,000 miles, including roadside assistance.  This is very important for most drivers, as it’s an added bonus, helping justify the cost of this and any automotive.

The Chicago CTS is also a very safe car to drive.  GM has the OnStar Communication system that most of us have seen on their advertisements.  In fact, in 2009 the CTS was a “Top Safety Pick” based on government crash and safety tests!

All around the Chicago CTS is one amazing car that has so much to offer.  Visit a Cadillac dealership today and see one for yourself.

The CTS-V coupe will share some of the same features as the V-series sedan.  For example, it will have the supercharged v8 engine that gives 556 hp.  Wow, makes me wanna test drive one right now!  Also, two 6 speed transmissions will be available:   The Tremec TR6060 manual that has a dual disc clutch, or the Hydra-Matic 6L90.  The Hydra-Matic  is automatic and has paddle shifters.  Like the Chicago Escalade, this sounds like another great luxury car produced by GM!

The CTS-V Coupe will have some exterior features that the sedan does not.  The coupe will be a 2-door, somewhat sportier looking model.  Of all the Chicago CTS cars, it has the wider of the rear tracks, one inch to be exact…This is a feature that one may or may not notice, but it’s mentioned several times as being an important feature that makes it coupe-like.  Length wise, it will be about 2 inches shorter than the sedan.  The Chicago CTS will be without B-pillars and traditional door handles.  Instead of the handles, the V-coupe has touch pads that give it a clean look.

Inside the CTS coupe, Cadillac has placed some great amenities.  For example, the leather interior has some hand stitched trim on the door, center console and instrument panel.  Talk about high quality!  Technology wise, The coupe comes with Bose sound system, ipod connectivity, pop-up navigation system and more!  These are features that are also found on other Chicago CTS cars.

It sounds like the Cadillac CTS-V coupe will be a welcome addition to the lineup of Cadillac cars.  I can’t wait to see it parked next to the Chicago Escalade later this year!
